>/Early Stage

A start-up and early stage software company experiences special challenges. An organisation is brought into being, winning strategies are formulated, capabilities are acquired, and funds obtained, in which an innovative product is developed and brought to market and sold against competition through a winning value preposition. These companies are concerned with all aspects of business directions assisted through the CSE's strategy services. They are also concerned about giving some organisation focus to the business, through the adoption of informal processes, and the development of key technical and management skills, assisted through the CSE's process services. They are concerned with ensuing that the software product is developed efficiently and robustly and provides a strong architecture for future releases and customisation, assisted through the CSE's design services.

>/Mature Company

A technology company in a later stage of its development will have a different set of challenges from that of an early stage company. Such a company may be a high growth technology company, between two and four yeas old, where an initial product or product set or service and initial customers may be established. Such a company may be established but requiring a service of business strategy. The organisation structure will more clearly reflect the key functions. The main activities will become more streamlined. The technologies will be enhanced. The skills will be further enhanced. International markets will create new demands on the personnel, the products, the partner relations. Further product released, client customisation, target market specialisation, the development of platform products, will challenge the company in new ways. These companies continue to be concerned with business direction and possibly refocus. They are also concerned with the formal adoption of an R+D structure and capability. These are assisted through the CSE's strategy services. They are concerned with organisation and efficiency. They adopt new processes to address new challenges. They may experience a key organisation development. They may wish to improve on past experience. This brings cbat a desire for a better-managed approach to doing business. These are assisted through the CSE's process services. They may need to redevelop their mainline product, or they may decide on the basis of experiences to date, to carry out new product development with a more advanced architectural, these are assisted through the CSE's design services.

>/In-house Sofware

In-house software operations are concerned with strategies and policies relating to the use of packaged software, the customisation of package software, and the development of response software or software based on an application framework. A software capability invariably implies the need for a well-organised and efficient operation, strong technical and project management skills and a mature person. These are assisted through the CSE's process services. These organisations are also concerned with the application of advanced architecture and engineering guidelines to bring about an efficient and effective software development capability, appropriate advanced technologies to ensure quality, mobility, reliability and interoperability of system. These are assisted by CSE's design services.
